Glacier Express 2 Landquart - Chur - Disentis

The track branches off from the Albula cable car just behind the Hinterrhein bridge near Reichenau and follows the entire length of the Vorderrhein valley. Here, the "Grand Canyon of Switzerland" welcomes you with spectacular views of an impressive natural spectacle. In the scenic Rhine Gorge (Ruinaulta), massive rock walls tower to the left and right of the tracks to breathtaking heights. But even before you get fed up with the bizarre shapes and colors, the train leaves this unique canyon landscape again. Disentis awaits you - and there the monumental building of the oldest Benedictine abbey in Switzerland, whose Baroque twin towers dominate the townscape since 1695. On the route, the regional trains run at hourly intervals, which is compacted as needed. There are four express train pairs - all Glacier Express trains. As locomotives Ge 4/4 I, Ge 4/4 II, from and to Ge 4/4 III used before heavy freight trains Ge 6/6 II. Due to the necessary change of locomotive in the cramped station of Disentis there is particularly varied operation.
