IC 2000 - 2020

It is the largest modernisation in the history of SBB long-distance transport:
The 341 IC2000 double-decker coaches will be upgraded for another 20 years in service.
The modernization includes the implementation of current and future customer requirements,
compliance with Swiss legal requirements regarding access for
people with disabilities and the modernization of vehicle technology.

The IC2000 trains form the backbone of the intercity long-haul fleet and were purchased between 1997
and 2004. They run on the Geneva - Bern - St. Gallen and
Romanshorn - Brig routes, among others. The IC2000 fleet will continue to be central
to meeting the increasing demand for seats after the modernisation.
