The Black Forest Railway Reloaded runs from the source city of the Danube in Donaueschingen via the Black Forest to Offenburg in the Rhine Valley.
A few hundred meters of altitude have to be overcome, which are overcome in numerous hairpin bends and 37 tunnels. Your locomotives will have to give their all to pull the long passenger trains up the steep incline! You will find out why this low mountain range got its name.
Dense forest alternates with the typical farms, here and there are important tourist magnets with their many watch shops. Accompany the river Kinzig at top speed on the last stretch in a wide valley with many quarries, strong agriculture and romantic towns as far as the city of Offenburg.
A quiet branch line is also included: the Kinzigtalbahn.
It runs from Offenburg to Hausach for a while on the route of the Black Forest Railway and finally branches off there on a single track and unelectrified to the east in the direction of Freudenstadt, located on the eastern flank of the mountains. Here you pass the romantic half-timbered town of Schiltach and Alpirsbach, known for the beer of the same name, with your powerful RegioShuttle.
