Gradients of up to 60 ‰, an own power system, a locomotive specially developed for the line and interesting operational processes. With all these things, only the Rübeland Railway (originally known as the "Harz Railway") can inevitably come to mind.

On 1 November 1885, the first freight train ran on the Rübeland

Railway. With this day, the unique history of a route began, as you will not find it a second time in the German rail network to this day. The Rübeland Railway from Blankenburg to Königshütte (Harz) wrote several technical history and, with its "island operation", is still a special jewel of railway history in Germany to this day.

The time period shown in Train Simulator is probably the most interesting that the track has experienced.

In GDR times, the Rübeland Railway was an economically important line and demanded a lot from train drivers and material. Of the approximately 30 kilometres of track, around half are in curves. Steep sections and a hairpin bend make the route a challenge even for experienced train drivers. The most important task of the route was to bring together the products of the ore, lime and wood industry on site in Blankenburg in order to transport them throughout the GDR.

Since it was already clear at the beginning of electrification that the line would remain an island railway for a very long time without an electrical connection to the rest of the rail network, an unconventional type of electrification was chosen, which could be supplied from the local power

grid. The supply with the usual 15 kV and 16.6 Hz would have been too time-consuming. A system with 25 kilovolts and 50 Hz was chosen. The 6-axis 251 series was developed especially for this route and the special power system. Thus, the old and no longer sufficiently strong steam locomotives were replaced. A total of 15 engines were built, 11 of which were in service on the Rübeland Railway by the end of 2004. They are based on the 211 and 242 series, also known as "wooden scooters".

Experience in train simulator an enchanting and lovingly designed route, which is located in the period of the former

GDR. Master the inclines and operate the unique hairpin bend with the help of which the heavy lime trains are brought to their destination.
